How to Prepare Artwork for Custom Flag Printing

Good artwork makes a custom flag easier to read and helps the printed result match your expectations. This guide explains how to prepare a logo, photo, wording, colors, and layout for a WOANIXY custom feather flag before you approve the digital proof.
Quick checklist: use the largest files available, keep important content away from finished edges, confirm spelling and contact details, identify single-sided or double-sided printing, and approve the final proof only after checking every detail.
1. Start with the correct flag size and printing option
Choose the intended flag size before arranging the artwork because each size has different proportions. Also decide whether you need single-sided or double-sided printing. A single-sided flag shows the design correctly on the front and as a reversed, lighter image on the back. A double-sided flag uses two printed layers with a light-blocking layer between them, so the artwork reads correctly from both directions.
If you are unsure which construction fits your display, read our single-sided vs double-sided feather flag guide.
2. Send the best logo or image file available
Vector artwork is the best choice for logos, lettering, and simple graphics because it can be enlarged without losing sharpness. If you have vector files such as PDF, SVG, AI, or EPS, send them with the order. If only a PNG or JPG is available, use the original, highest-resolution version rather than a screenshot, thumbnail, or image downloaded from social media.
- Avoid blurry screenshots and heavily compressed images.
- Send original logo files whenever possible.
- Use transparent-background artwork when the background should remain open.
- Do not enlarge a small raster image and expect it to become sharper.

3. Build the artwork to the correct proportions
Feather flags are tall and narrow. A wide horizontal logo may need to be stacked, rotated, or combined with shorter text. Prepare the design in the same general proportions as the selected flag, or send the separate logo, wording, colors, and layout instructions so the design can be arranged for the flag shape.
Keep the most important information near the visual center. Avoid placing small text, thin lines, or essential logo details directly against the finished edges or pole sleeve.

4. Keep the message short and readable
Most feather flags are viewed while people are walking or driving past. Use one main message and make the most important words large. A business name, short offer, directional word, phone number, or website usually works better than several paragraphs.
- Use bold, easy-to-read typefaces.
- Limit the number of font styles.
- Create strong contrast between text and background.
- Avoid very thin lettering and small legal text.
- Check that the reading order is clear from top to bottom.

5. Outline fonts and include linked graphics
If you send an editable design file, convert fonts to outlines when possible or include the required font files. Embed or package linked images so they do not disappear when the file is opened on another computer. A flattened preview image is also useful for showing the intended appearance.
6. Choose colors with printed output in mind
Screens emit light, while fabric reflects light, so printed colors can differ slightly from a phone or monitor. Provide a clear color reference when a specific brand color matters. The digital proof confirms layout, text, and general color placement; it should be reviewed carefully before production begins.
7. Prepare single-sided and double-sided artwork correctly
Single-sided printing
Submit the correctly oriented front artwork. The reverse side will show a mirrored, lighter version through the fabric. Make sure the front faces the most important viewing direction when the flag is installed.
Double-sided printing
Two printed panels allow correctly oriented graphics on both sides. Tell us whether both sides should use the same design or whether you want different artwork. Different artwork may require additional review before production.
8. Review the digital proof line by line
Production starts after proof approval, so check the proof at full attention. Verify:
- spelling, capitalization, dates, prices, and punctuation;
- phone numbers, website addresses, social handles, and QR codes;
- logo orientation and image quality;
- flag size and single-sided or double-sided construction;
- background colors and the position of important elements;
- which edge connects to the pole sleeve.
How to submit your custom flag artwork
- Place the order for the required custom feather flag size and printing option.
- Email the order number, artwork files, exact wording, preferred colors, and layout instructions to woanixy@gmail.com.
- Review the digital proof and request any needed corrections.
- Approve the final proof when every detail is correct.
Production and dispatch take 1–2 business days after proof approval. Estimated shipping to the United States takes another 6–10 business days after dispatch. The custom product includes the printed flag only; the compatible pole and base are ordered separately.
Artwork preparation FAQ
Can you help arrange my logo and wording?
Yes. Send the separate logo, exact wording, preferred colors, and a description of the layout you want. Free design assistance is available before you approve the digital proof.
Can I use a photo on a custom feather flag?
Yes, but use the original high-resolution image. Photos with a clear subject and strong contrast reproduce better than small, dark, or compressed images.
What if I only have a low-resolution logo?
Send the best version available and ask for a quality check. Simple logos may be easier to improve than detailed photographs, but print quality depends on the source artwork.
Can I submit different artwork for each side?
Contact us before ordering or include the request with your artwork. Different designs are relevant to double-sided construction and need to be confirmed during proof review.
